IND vs Eng: The Indian team suffered a defeat in the Leeds Test against England. This defeat became even more shocking when five centuries were scored by the Indian team in this match. Despite this, India failed to win this test. Now after this defeat, questions are being raised on Team India’s selection policy, fielding performance of players and the collapse batting in the last moments.
Meanwhile, former India head coach Ravi Shastri has given a strong message to the current coach Gautam Gambhir and has advised that now there is a need to be strict within the team. Shastri clearly said that the players who repeatedly made mistakes should now be held accountable.
In a conversation with Sky Sports after the defeat in the Leeds Test, Ravi Shastri said, “Gautam Gambhir will now have to adopt a tough attitude as a coach. The players who are making the same mistakes again and again should take responsibility for the defeat. If needed, the head coach should not be avoided to reprimand even if needed.”
Shastri also said that the coaching staff should not only praise the performance, but also have to take the initiative to improve the basic mistakes. He praised Shubman Gill’s captaincy and batting, saying, “Gill performed more than his role, but not just a century to win, the right decisions are necessary at the right time.”
Shastri further said, “When the batsman gets into the field, he should understand the price of his wicket. If you can reach 500-600 runs and then lose the opportunity, the match gets out of hand.” He also added that the head coach will have to bring discipline and strictness in the dressing room, only then the team will return to the path of victory.
India had scored 471 runs in the first innings, England also equaled 465 runs. India scored 364 runs in the second innings but lost the last 6 wickets for just 31 runs. England achieved the target of 371 runs with 5 wickets and won the Test.
