KL Rahul’s test average may be less than 35, but his excellent innings on foreign land and the ability to play in every situation make him entitled to a ‘new wall’.
Delhi: Okay, it will be very difficult for India to challenge Rahul Dravid’s record for anyone’s batting in Test cricket, that is, the bowling of ‘The Wall’ i.e. the bowling in front of the bowlers of another team, but now the time has come for anyone to include KL Rahul’s name in the discussion of this title. The importance of his magnificent 42 (in 109 minutes) and 137 (in 381 minutes) in the headingley, the time he was playing, was very special in view of the mood of that time. He does not do fireworks like Rishabh Pant but is one of the most difficult wickets for the bowlers.
If they connect with today’s cricket with long hair, tattoo and handkerchief style, then their batting style connects them with the past batsmen. Without fear, on any pitch, ready to play at any number and also wicketkeeping in need. Even while praising Rahul Dravid, he counts them special. Now Rahul plays like a fearless and that is why it is not surprising that 8 of his 9 Tests are made outside India, out of which 3 are now in England.
Even then the biggest puzzle is that despite this praise, his Test average is only 34.70 after 59 Tests. He is a better batsman than this. After the England headingley Test, the role of Rahul in Team India is comparing with the route and it is not a minor thing. During the Headingley Test, even in the debate between Deep Dasgupta and Sanjay Manjrekar on this question, the issue was that why does the batting average not show their right level?
Given their experience, not having an average 35 will be considered a little bad. Whether it is injury or form, Rahul continues to be in and out of the team, due to which the performance has been affected. Here they are not discussing why this happened and who is responsible for not giving a chance to play by showing confidence in them, but given the opportunities, they are entitled to play for a long time on a fixed number.
Even today there is no fixed answer to this question that despite the Test debut in 2014, where do they fit in the Test team? Are middle orders, or openers? If the selector labels the opener on them and shows confidence, then a separate KL Rahul will definitely be seen. KL Rahul is more visible in an attempt to confirm his place in the team before every series and selector has been playing chess to fit him in different roles, which affects the performance.
Even then, see some special records which will prove this argument more:
They themselves play every ball in such a way that what happened on the previous ball has no effect, but at the same time the role of guiding another batsman. When Sai Sudarshan and then Rishabh Pant came in the first innings, everyone saw this. Did you note that in Headingley, he was talking in Tamil with Sai Sudarshan, in Hindi with Rishabh Pant and in Kannada with Karun Nair. Is he the Test cricketer of the fraternity of Gundappa Vishwanath and Mark Waugh who could not register an average of 50, but the list of those who praise his batting is very long?
