With the rumours of Sanju Samson joining the Chennai franchise ahead of the 19th edition of the tournament, a top official from CSK has confirmed that the franchise has been making moves ahead of the IPL 2026.

For the first time in history, Chennai Super Kings finished at the bottom of the points table this year. MS Dhoni took over the catpaincy after Ruturaj Gaikwad has been ruled out due to injury.

Over past few weeks, the chatters has been rife that CSK has been interested in bringing in Rajasthan Royals’ captain Sanju Samson on board.

It has been viral on social media and several CSK fan clubs have been discussing the prospects of Samson’s joining.

On this occasion, CSK official’s statement has cofirmed that the franchise is open to welcome wk-batter into their fold.

However, there is no formal communication has been initiated with the Rajasthan Royals yet.

“We are definitely looking at Sanju. He is an Indian batter, who is a keeper and an opener. So if he is available, we will certainly have a look at the option of having him in our fold,” told the reporters.

“Who we will trade him with we have not taken that call because the matter has not gone that far. But yes, in principle, we are interested,” the official added.

If CSK want to bring in Samson, they would be required to trade some players in return. The Wk-batter was retained for INR 18 crore ahead of the IPL 2025 auction.

Meanwhile Some other franchises has also shown interest on trading for Sanju Samson.

Rajasthan Royals had finished in the second last position in the IPL 2025 points table where Sanju Samson missed few matches due to injury.

He played nine matches for the franchise and scored 285 runs with a highest score of 66 against Sunrisers Hyderabad. He started the tournament as the impact sub and when made his return as captain, he suffered a side strain and missed five games.
