Delhi: On Tuesday, the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) ruled that the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) are mainly responsible for the stampede outside the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The incident took place on the next day of winning the IPL i.e. June 4, when the team was celebrating inside the stadium.
ACP Vikash Kumar’s suspension canceled
CAT also canceled the suspension of the then Additional Commissioner of Police (ACP) Vikash Kumar Vikash. The tribunal said that there was no concrete evidence against the police officers and they were suspended without reason.
How to prepare in 12 hours?
The CAT report said that the police got very little time to prepare for this event. Justice B.K. Srivastava and Administrative Member Santosh Mehra said that the police is neither God nor a magician. They have no “lamp of Aladdin” so that they suddenly make all the preparations.
RCB did not allow
According to the report, RCB did not take any permission from the police or administration for the celebration at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. According to the rule, permission has to be obtained for any public program at least 7 days in advance. The team suddenly informed about the program on social media, causing thousands of crowds to throng outside the stadium.
11 killed in accident, 50 injured
This crowd and chaos caused a stampede, in which at least 11 people lost their lives and about 50 people were injured.
Can RCB be banned from IPL?
Now the question is whether RCB can be banned from IPL due to this incident? No final decision has been taken so far, but if the final decision of the tribunal goes against the team then the board can take strict action on RCB. Earlier, CSK and RR have also been banned on violation of rules.
