The wicketkeeper batter Jamie Smith has obliterated Prasidh Krishna by scoring  22 runs in a single over during the second test played at Birmingham.

Batting along with Harry Brook, he went on to smash 4,6,4,4,4 in the 32nd over, helping the side to cross the 150-run mark. England suffered a collapse losing five wickets to score 84 runs in the second test of the Tendulkar-Anderson Trophy.

After Ben Duckett and Ollie Pope’s dismissal for duck by Akash Deep, Zak Crawley and Joe Root added 19 and 22 runs before being dismissed by Siraj.

However, Jamie Smith and Harry Brook has revived the side from collapse as the former scored a century (102* runs off 82 deliveries) which included 14 fours and 3 sixes.

Meanwhile, Harry Brook scored 91 runs off 127 deliveries before the lunch break. England scored 249 runs before the lunch and and trail the innings by 338 runs.

Earlier, India batted first and scored 587 runs in the first innings after a stellar knock of 269 runs along with Jaiswal and Jadeja’s 87 and 89 respectively.

Washington Sundar’s 42 runs has helped the side to post a mammoth target in the first innings.

Shoaib Bashir’s three wicket haul while Chris Woakes and Josh Tongue two wickets each has helped the hosts to restrict India’s 600-run breach.

Speaking after the day 02 play Jadeja said, “When you contribute with the bat for the team, it feels great, when you are playing outside India, and the team needs you more, it feels good.”

“From 210 for 5 to put together a big partnership to take the team forward, it is a challenge. I took it as a challenge,” he added.

“If you can stick around with the captain and put together a big partnership, it gives you confidence as a cricketer and a batter that in the coming matches also you can contribute” added Jaadaja.

It will be interesting to see whether India could pull out their bowling strategy to restrict under 400 run mark.
