Jamie smith: On the third day of the second Test match being played between India and England in Edgbaston, England’s wicketkeeper-batsman Jamie Smith created panic. In the morning session of the third day, Smith hit the Indian bowlers and hit a fast century in just 80 balls. Just before lunch, he completed his century by hitting Ravindra Jadeja’s ball and took England out of the crisis.

This is the second Test century of his career, which came when England struggled at 84/5 after the initial shaking. Smith took a front with Harry Brook and gave a new direction to England’s innings. During this century, he hit 11 fours and 1 six and became the English batsman to score the fastest Test century against India. He has scored an unbeaten 184 runs in this innings.

From T20 debut at Lord’s to the England U-19 team in 2019, Smith continuously introduced his talent. The innings of 127 runs against Stuart Broad and Dom Base in First-Class Debut for MCC brought him into everyone’s eyes.

Bang double century in 2022 and record in Lions

In 2022, he caught the attention of ECB by scoring an unbeaten 234 against Glossreshire. After this, he set a record of the fastest century in the four -day history by scoring a century in just 71 balls for England Lions in Sri Lanka in winter of 2022/23.

International career and future path

Smith made a Test debut against the West Indies in July 2024 at Lord’s, where he scored 70 runs. So far, he has scored 725 runs in 11 Tests for England at an average of 45.31. Prior to the stormy century against India, he scored his first Test century against Sri Lanka in August 2024 in Manchester.
