Maxwell, Netravalkar & Edwards Powers Freedom’s 8-Wicket Victory Against Seattle Orcas

Glenn Maxwell and Saurabh Netravalkar’s performance in the MLC 2025 between Seattle Orcas and Washington Freedom has secured the win for the latter in Florida.

Their performance has helped the side to post an 8-wicket victory in Saturday’s clash. By this win, Washington Freedom secured 7 wins out of nine games and clinched second position in the MLC 2025 points table.

Batting first, Shayan Jahangir and Steven Taylor opened the innings while Netravalkar opened the bowling attack.

With a stunning opening spell from Netravalkar and Maxwell has dismantled entire top order picking five wickets within powerplay.

However, Heinrich Klaasen was the only scorer for the side posting 48 runs off 39 deliveries but other batters were sent out for single digit scores with Seattle Orcas all out for 82 runs.

Maxwell, Jack Edwards and Netravalkar bagged three wickets each to dismantle batting lineup.

In the pursuit of chasing 83 run target, Mitchell Owen and Rachin Ravindra opened the innings while Gerald Coetzee opened the bowling attack.

Despite the dismissal of Owen for 6 runs by Sikandar Raza, Rachin Ravindra and Mukhtar Ahmed forged a 42 run partnership before Rachin’s dismissal before 32 runs. Mukhtar Ahmed remained unbeaten with 36 runs off 21 deliveries along with Andries Gous 8* runs for 5 deliveries.

Washington Freedom completed the chase in 10th over with 64 balls to spare. Glenn Maxwell was named as the Player of the Match.

Speaking at the post match conference, “You have to use the conditions and I think I was able to do that reasonably well tonight. The lights are quite low and with the fireworks happening around, the visibility wasn’t great at the ground,” said Maxwell.

“We are trying to do our homework as well as we can, the planning and preparation that goes on behind the scenes is important,” he added.

“Our ability to adapt to different conditions and the variety we have in our bowling and also the batting have been the standout points. It was great for the different guys to step up with the ball tonight,” Glenn Maxwell concluded.
