Delhi: Australia’s explosive batsman Tim David has made it clear that his current plans do not include the return of ODI cricket. Australia’s ODI team is going to make major changes because senior players like Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis and Steve Smith have retired from this format. In such a situation, the team needs new faces, and that is why Tim David’s name is in discussion.

The effect in ODI has not yet shown

However, David has played only four ODI matches so far in which he has scored only 45 runs at an average of 11.25. His last ODI match was against South Africa in 2023. In such a situation, he has so far failed to leave his mark in this format.

Currently on T20

Talking to Perth, where he is recovering from Hamstring Inzari, David said that his focus is only on T20 cricket. He said, “Right now I am talking to my coaches and people whom I take advice on my game. But to be honest, ODI cricket is not a part of my plan at the moment.”

Busy programs on T20 World Cup

David told that the next year is going to be very busy because the T20 World Cup is near. He said, “Earlier I used to play competitions out 4-5 months in summer, but now we have so many T20 series that there is no time to think anything else.”

Out of GSL due to injury

David suffered an injury to Hamstring during the IPL this year, due to which he could not play for Hobart Hurricane in Global Super League (GSL). He told, “Unfortunately my injury and his nature was such that the recovery time was very short. I still have to pass some tests and hope that I will recover quickly.”

Important role in RCB’s victory

However, despite the injury, David’s great performance in T20 Leagues continues. In IPL 2025, he contributed significantly to RCB’s first title win. Despite this, they just want to focus only on T20 cricket, and their return hopes in the ODI team are rarely seen.
