Kusal Mendis Slams 6th ODI Century in Series Decider Against Bangladesh

The wk-batter Kusal Mendis made a memorable outing in the final match of the ODI series in the Bangladesh tour of Sri Lanka.

He went on to smash a magnificent century, scoring 124 runs off 114 deliveries, which included 18 fours, helping the side to post 285 runs in their 50-over game. Both Bangladesh and Sri Lanka have one win each, and the outcome of the final ODI will seal the victory.

Batting first, Sri Lanka went on to lose both the openers for 69 runs. With the dismissal of Kamindu Mendis they lost three wickets for 100 runs. Kusal Mendis brought  his 35th ODI fifty in style, reaching the mark in 58 deliveries.

However a solid partnership from Kusal Mendis and Asalanka has posted a 124 run partnership where the captain posted a half century (58 off 68 deliveries).

With contributions from other middle order and lower order Sri Lanka were able to post 285 runs in their innings.

Taskin Ahmed and Mehidy Hasan Miraz picked two wickets each while Tanzim, Tanvir and Shamim Hossain picked one wickets each.

Kusal Mendis became the second Sri Lankan player to score 2000 international runs against Bangladesh across formats. The legendary Kumar Sangakkara is the only other batter from the Island nation to achieve the milestone.

He went on to score 4654 runs in 143 games at an average of 35.07 and a strike rate of 87.96.
