Deepti Sharma Pulls Out of Women’s Hundred to Manage Workload

India all-rounder Deepti Sharma has withdrawn from The Hundred 2025, which leaves the tournament without any Indian players for the first time.

London Spirit star has pulled out to manage her workload ahead of India’s World Cup later this year. Australian all-rounder Charlie Knott will replace the Indian star as the 27-year-old has been packed with a busy schedule with international leagues and various franchises leagues around the world.

With a 50-over World Cup on home soil looming later this year, she has opted to withdraw from her 36,000 euros contract in order to give herself a short break.

The BCCI does not grant active men’s play in overseas leagues, while the women’s players who have previously been involved either went undrafted or were unavailabe due to workload concerns ahead of the Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025.

London Spirit has made several changes this season with Charlie Dean taking captain the side in place of injured Heather Knight. Grace Harris replaces Meg Lanning, while Chris Liddle takes over from Ashley Noffke as head coach.

Meanwhile, Ash Gardner will captain Trent Rockets after Nat Sciver-Brunt stepped down to manage her England Captaincy duties.

David Willey takes charge of the Men’s Rockets team, replacing Lewis Gregory who moved to Manchester Originals.

The tournament runs from August 5-31 and is seen as a transistional year. The ECB will hand over operational control to host counties and private investors before the 2026 season.

Each team will add four wildcard players next week based on T20 Blast performances. The players increasingly selective about their commitments, leagues must balance commercial interests with player welfareconcerns.
