Richard Ships of Turns to Zimbabwe Squad for T20I Tri-Series

The ZC board has announced the 16-member Zimbabwe squad for the upcoming T20I tri-Nation series, which marks the return of left-arm seamer Richard Ngarava, who has been sidelined with a lower-back injury.

Meanwhile, All-rounder Brian Bennett who missed part of the recent test series due to a concussion, has been cleared for a comeback too.

The side has picked three uncapped players in wk-batter Tafadzwa Tsiga, left arm pacer Newman Nyamhuri and Legspinner Vincent Masekesa. On the other hand, Ryan Burl, Tony Munyonga and Tashinga Musekiwa will be returning to the Zimbabwe squad in T20I format after making their last appearance against Ireland in February.

“The squad also retains Ryan Burl, Tony Munyonga and Tashinga Musekiwa, all of whom impressed during Zimbabwe’s last T20I assignment against Ireland in February,” a Zimbabwe Cricket statement read.

The series will be played in double round-robin format before the top-two make the title clash on July 26 at Harare Sports Club.

With the New Zealand and South Africa has announced the squad for the upcoming series, the teams will be making their final preparations ahead of start of the tournament.

Meanwhile, the Mitchell Santner-led squad has arrived in Harare on Thursday before the first game of the series on July 16.

The tournament is schedule to play between July 14 to 26 with each teams facing others twice at the round-robin stage before the top two sides meet in the finals.
