Cricket is truly a game of uncertainties, and once again, it has proven just that. Ireland’s fast bowler Curtis Campher has accomplished something that no one could have imagined. He made history by becoming the first player ever to take 5 wickets in 5 balls in T20 cricket — a record that had never been achieved before.

First Time Ever: 5 Wickets in 5 Balls

Ireland’s all-rounder Curtis Campher has etched his name in the record books. He became the first bowler in the world to take 5 wickets in 5 consecutive deliveries.

This historic feat came while playing for Munster Reds against North-West Warriors in the Inter-Provincial T20 Trophy.

Campher produced this remarkable performance by conceding only 16 runs in 2.3 overs. At one point, North-West Warriors were 87/5, but their batting line-up collapsed completely in front of Campher’s sensational spell.

Campher was brought into the attack in the 12th over of the innings — his second over — and immediately started picking wickets.

He first sent Jared Wilson and Graham Hume back to the pavilion on the last two deliveries of that over without allowing them to score.

Returning to bowl the 13th over, Campher completed his hat-trick on the very first ball by dismissing Andy McBrine, who had scored 29.

He then went on to dismiss Robbie Millar and Josh Wilson off the next two deliveries. With this, Campher claimed five wickets in five consecutive balls.

Speaking after the match, Ireland fast bowler Curtis Campher admitted that he couldn’t quite believe what had just happened. In his interaction with Cricket Ireland, Campher said, “I honestly didn’t understand what was going on. I just focused on my strengths, kept things simple, and thankfully, it paid off.”

Curtis Campher was born on April 20, 1999, in South Africa. He has previously represented South Africa at the Under-19 level. Later, he moved to Ireland, and thanks to his Irish grandmother, he was able to secure citizenship. Recognizing his talent and performances, he was drafted into the Ireland national team, where he continues to be a valuable all-rounder.
