Delhi: The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) on Sunday informed that off -spinner Shoaib Bashir can bowl in the fourth innings of the third Test match against India at Lord’s. However, the board has not given any clear information about his batting in England’s second innings.

Injuries in finger, Bashir returned from the ground

In the 78th over of the Indian innings on the third day, Shoaib Bashir suffered a small finger injury while stopping a shot by Ravindra Jadeja. This injury was on the fifth ball of the over. Immediate medical assistance was given, but due to lack of rest, he had to leave the ground. After this, the remaining balls of the over were completed by Joe Root.

Doubt on playing in fourth test

The ECB said in its statement, “The medical team is keeping an eye on Bashir’s injury. It is expected that he will be able to bowl in the fourth innings. His availability will be decided at the end of the match in the fourth Test starting on July 23 at Old Trafford, Manchester.”

Bashir’s performance in the series

21-year-old Shoaib Bashir has so far taken 9 wickets in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy series at an average of 59.44. In the first innings of the Lord’s Test, he also took an important wicket of Indian opener KL Rahul, who scored a century in that innings.
