Team India's concerns have escalated in the third Test match being played at Lord's. The Indian camp was already under pressure due to Rishabh Pant’s injury, and now Akashdeep has also suffered an injury on the fourth day of the Test.
He was seen limping off the field. Akash Deep appeared to be in excellent rhythm on this crucial day and also took the important wicket of Harry Brook.
The severity of his injury is not yet known, but the news is certainly worrisome for Team India. With Rishabh Pant already injured, Dhruv Jurel is currently handling the wicketkeeping duties in his place.
The Indian team, already troubled by Pant’s injury, has now received another blow. One of their key fast bowlers, Akash Deep, has sustained an injury.
According to a Times of India report, Akash Deep left the field limping and returned to the dressing room. He was also seen speaking to the team physio near the boundary and appeared to be in pain.
Akash Deep had been bowling impressively during the first session of Day 4 and clean bowled Harry Brook, the world’s No. 1 ranked batter. He had earlier proven to be Team India's trump card in the Edgbaston Test, where he picked up 10 wickets across both innings.
However, it is still unclear how serious his current injury is.Prior to Akash Deep’s injury, Team India had already suffered a setback with Rishabh Pant. While wicketkeeping, Pant was struck on the hand and had to leave the field.
In his absence, Dhruv Jurel took over the wicketkeeping duties in the first innings and continues to do so in the second. The silver lining for India is that Pant did come out to bat in the first innings. However, he remains under close medical supervision, and his condition is still being monitored by the medical team.
