Ben stokes: The third Test match was played between India and England at the historic ground in Lord’s, which was full of adventure and dramaticness. In this match, England made a brilliant comeback and defeated India by 22 runs and won the match.
The Indian team had a golden opportunity to win, but England overturned in the last moments and snatched the victory from India’s mouth. India had a target of 193 runs to win in the fourth innings. In response, the Indian batsmen shattered in front of England’s sharp bowling and were all out for 170 runs. Captain Ben Stokes, who was the hero of this victory, was also chosen “Player of the Match”.
Sharing his strategy at the post match presentation, Stokes said, “Just 6 years ago, on the same ground (2019 World Cup) Jofra did wonders. The same feeling was that he would do something special and he turned the match with two wickets.”
He also reported that Bridan Cars had bowled well, yet he and Jofra Archer decided to start with the new ball which proved to be decisive. “Jofra’s speed and accuracy changes the game atmosphere. My bowling also gave the team a Momentum and we could win the match,” Stokes said.
Describing the role of all-rounder as important, Ben Stokes said, “As an all-rounder I get a chance to affect the match on four different occasions. If one department does not run, I can contribute to another.” He also added, “I was also tired yesterday, but when the match is at stake, it is impossible to stop myself.”
Praising Indian batsman Rishabh Pant, Stokes said, “Rishabh batted brilliantly. We know how dangerous he could be. This morning his wicket was big for us and Jofra did what he expected from him.” He also appreciated the entire team of India and said that both teams were competing with each other. “It was a very tough match. Now I am waiting for four days rest and then I will be ready to play the next match in Manchester,” Stokes said smiling.
