Ahead of the SA20 2026 season, the Durban Super Giants have confirmed that Lance Klusener will be reappointed as the head coach.
He has been a key figure on the side since the inaugural edition and will be continuing his journey with the side. Under his guidance, Super Giants played in the finals of the 2024 season, against Sunrisers Eastern Cape and ended up as runners-up.
However, prior to that, they secured only two victories in 10 matches and ended up being on the last position of the points table and exited the tournament from the group stage.
SA20 has become one of the prominent tournaments in the cricketing world. Since its inception in 2023, the tournament has carved its own legacy and added a spark to the format.
Speaking on his return to the club, the South African star sets his sight on another thrilling season. Klusener thanked the franchise for entrusting with franchise coaching duties.
“It’s a privilege to continue this journey with the Durban Super Giants and the RPSG Group. The support and belief shown in me is deeply appreciated. I look forward to building something even more special this season,” he said.
“We’ve laid the foundation over the past three years. Now, it’s time to build a team that can consistently challenge for the title and make Durban proud. Durban is my home. Coaching this franchise is more than a job–it’s a mission to build something enduring with our fans and players,” he added.
As the new season is coming up later this year, the Durban’s Super Giants are aiming for a stronger bounce-back from their previous slump.
The SA20 2026 season is set to be played in December-January window to complete the tournament ahead of the T20 World Cup window.
The fourth edition of the tournament is set to begin on December 26 with MI Cape Town and Durban Super Giants to play in the first match on NewlandsCape Town.
