Brian lara blamed ipl: The West Indies cricket team was all out for just 27 runs in the third Test match against Australia. After which this score was reduced to the second lowest test score in cricket history. This shameful performance has raised serious questions on the future of Caribbean cricket.
After this embarrassing defeat against Australia, West Indies great batsman Brian Lara has targeted the Indian Premier League (IPL) and other T20 franchise leagues. At the same time, former England cricketer David Lloyd has blamed ‘Big Three’ i.e. India, Australia and England for the fall of West Indies cricket.
In the first Pink Ball Test played at Sabina Park, Australia defeated West Indies by 176 runs to make a clean sweep 3–0 in the Frank Wareel Trophy series. In this match, Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc took a record six wickets, while Scott Bolland took a hat -trick, in front of which the entire West Indies team collapsed in just 87 balls for 27 runs. This is the second lowest score of Test cricket, a major setback for West Indies cricket.
After this defeat, Brian Lara in the ‘Stick to Cricket’ podcast held the IPL and other T20 franchise leagues for the falling level of cricket in the West Indies directly without naming anyone. Lara clearly said, “We first played first-class cricket to get into the West Indies team, some players also played county cricket. But now the players are using the West Indies team just as a ladder-so that they can find the contract elsewhere in the world. And there is no mistake of the players.”
Former England cricketer David Lloyd, who came at the same podcast, presented a different view on the fall of West Indies cricket. He blamed India, Australia and England and said, “Big three take all the money. England, Australia and India take all the money. They get big broadcast deals. West Indies, New Zealand and Sri Lanka need more uniform distribution to remain competitive.”
