Delhi: India’s assistant coach Ryan Ten Deskatte praised England captain Ben Stokes and said that he bowled brilliantly on the last day of Lord’s Test. Stokes threw 9.2 and 10 -over long spells and put pressure on Indian batsmen. Due to his hard work, England won by 22 runs in the third Test.

Deskatte spoke on comparison of Stokes-Bumrah

Ryan praised Stokes to perform well while spelling a long spell. He said, “This was a great performance from Ben to bowl so many overs on the last day, that too with so much intensity. Also he also contributes to batting and fielding.”

However, he also made it clear that it is not right to compare bowlers like Bumrah to Stokes. He said, “We do not want to compare our bowlers to the players of any other team. We have our own forces. We know what Jaspreet Bumrah can do in a small spell and he likes to bowl the same way.”

Ryan praises Siraj

Ryan further said that some bowlers like Mohammad Siraj get success in a long spell, but not everyone needs to be the same. He said, “Some bowlers like Siraj get good rhythm in their seventh, eighth or ninth over. But everyone does not have to be the same. We use Jaspreet and use them in the same way that the best for the team.”

Praising Mohammad Siraj, Ryan said, “We often forget that we have a player like Siraj. Even if he does not take as many wickets every time, but his heart is like a lion. Whenever he has a ball in his hand, it seems that something will happen.”

He also said, “Siraj never backs down, so it is important that we manage his workload well so that he stays fit in the whole series. In view of Arshdeep’s position, we will take a decision on bowling combination in Manchester.”

India had to face defeat in the third Test and now the team is behind 1-2 in the series. In such a situation, the fourth Test is very important for India, which will be played in Manchester from July 23.
