The New Zealand all-rounder Glenn Phillips has been ruled out of the ongoing Zimbabwe T20I Tri-Series due to a right groin injury.

He picked up the injury during the finals of the MLC 2025, and he was assessed on his arrival at Zimbabwe.

Tim Robinson has joined the squad as a cover, will remain with the team for the rest of the tri series.

Glenn Phillips played 10 games for Washington Freedom in MLC including final where they lost to MI New York.

He scored 186 runs at an average of 62 and a strike-rate of 139.84.

Phillips also missed the majority of the IPL after sustaining a similar injury while coming in as a substitute for his Gujarat Titans.

The side will be also missing the services of Finn Allen who was named in New Zealand squad but was ruled out after suffering a foot injury whilst playing for the San Francisco Unicorns in Major League Cricket.

Speaking on all-rounder’s injury, head coach Rob Walter said, “It’s obviously disappointing to lose someone of Glenn’s calibre. Much like Finn, we really feel for Glenn and that he misses out on this series.”

“We know he was eager to get out on the field for the Blackcaps and unfortunately, he won’t be able to do that for this series. We know he’ll work hard to get himself back onto the park, and I look forward to when that happens,” Walter added.

New Zealand won their first match of the series against South Africa and will be looking for a win in the match against Zimbabwe played on July 18 at Harare.
