The 26-year-old left-hand bowler Arshdeep Singh has been ruled out of the fourth test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, while Nitish Reddy will be missing the remaining two tests due to respective injuries.
According to an official release from BCCI, Nitish Kumar Reddy has been ruled out because of a left knee injury and will now fly back home.
On the other hand, Pacer Arshdeep Singh, who is yet to make his Test debut, has been ruled out of the upcoming fourth match against England at Manchester after sustaining an impact injury to his left thumb while bowling in the nets during a training session in Beckenham.
“The BCCI Medical Team is monitoring his progress,” said the board. Ahead of the upcoming fourth test in Manchester, the Men’s Selection Committee has added Anshul Kamboj to the squad.
Shubman Gill-led India suffered a 22-run victory in the Lord’s Test and trails the series 1-2 in the five match series.
Jadeja put up a fight to help India stage a fightback after being 112/8 in the chase of 193. However, Siraj’s dismissal by Shoaib Bashir has left the all-rounders efforts in vain.
India has deployed three all-rounders. In the Edgbaston and Lord’s Test, Jadeja Washington Sundar, and Nitish Kumar Reddy played in the same playing Xl.
Meanwhile Kuldeep Yadav is also yet to get a game and it remains to be seen whether the management shows enough faith in his abilities to give him some game time. Karun Nair has also failed to impact not capitalising on his opportunities.
On the other hand, Sai Sudharsan has been dropped after just one game. Dhruv Jurel got chance to keep wickets when Rishabh Pant sustained a niggle. If Pant is not fit enough to don the gloves in the Manchester Test, Jurel will be wicketkeeper for the upcoming game.
The fourth test will be played between July 23 and 27 at Old Trafford Cricket StadiumManchester.
