The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Thursday officially released the schedule for Team India’s tour of England in 2026.
The tour will feature a five-match T20 International series followed by a three-match ODI series. The T20I leg begins on July 1, while the ODIs will be played from July 14 to July 19.
Notably, both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, retired from Tests and ODIs, could feature in the ODI series, adding star power to the contest.
The T20I series will kick off on July 1, 2026, and run through July 11. Matches will be held at five different venues, offering fans across England a chance to catch the action live:
1st T20I – July 1: Durham
2nd T20I – July 4: Manchester
3rd T20I – July 7: Nottingham
4th T20I – July 9: Bristol
5th T20I – July 11: Southampton
The three-match ODI series will begin on July 14, with fixtures in Birmingham, Cardiff, and London. The complete schedule is as follows:
1st ODI – July 14: Birmingham
2nd ODI – July 16: Cardiff (Sophia Gardens)
3rd ODI – July 19: Lord’s, London
Rohit Sharma continues to serve as India’s ODI captain, while Virat Kohli has not yet announced retirement from the 50-over format.
Both senior players are expected to be part of the squad for the England ODIs. Their last appearance came during India’s triumphant Champions Trophy 2025 campaign, where India beat New Zealand in the final — clinching the title for the first time since 2013.
Rohit will be 40 and Kohli 38 by then, raising doubts about their participation. Both are still active in ODIs and played key roles in India’s 2025 Champions Trophy win.
They are likely to feature in the 2026 England tour, but the BCCI may look to transition to a younger core before 2027. Much will depend on their form, fitness, and team requirements closer to the tournament. Their experience, however, keeps the door slightly open.
