Joey Markie is very critical about the decision of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to make Rohit the captain of Team India for the tournament. Speaking to Cricbuzz, Bhattacharya said, “They have got themselves into trouble by appointing Rohit Sharma as the captain of India for the T20 World Cup. I don't think that at this time, in this format (T20), Rohit should be the captain.
He further said, “I have respect for him. I think he is a wonderful cricketer, but he is not in a position to bat for selection for India.”
Let us tell you that Virat Kohli, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill are in better form than Rohit Sharma and there is tough competition among them for the opening position. It is also true that Sharma is the captain, so he will open. Bhattacharya said that one player will have to bat at one position in the lower order.

Additionally, Joy chose veteran fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah to lead India in the USA and West Indies in June this year, apart from Rohit Sharma to captain India. He said, “The captain should be a definite member of the team. I will keep (Jasprit) Bumrah as captain (over Rohit Sharma).”
