Moeen Ali Revelation on Virat Kohli Captaincy: Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), who is celebrating the title of IPL 2025, has now been a big revelation. A former all -rounder of the team said that in 2019, preparations were made to remove Virat Kohli from the captaincy. Which has surprised the fans. This former player has revealed that there were discussions of some major changes within the management in 2019. During that time, many questions were raised about the team’s performance and management decisions.

A shocking revelation has emerged about the team a few months after the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) won the title. Former England and RCB all -rounder Moin Ali has claimed that Virat Kohli’s captaincy was almost lost in 2019 and there was complete preparation to make Parthiv Patel a captain.

Moin Ali, who was part of the RCB in 2019-20, said in an interview to Sports, “Yes, I am sure that there was talk of captaincy to Parthiv Patel. The same thing was going on inside the team while being a coach of Gary Kirsten. The same thing was going on inside the team. Parthiv had a brilliant cricketing brain and was very close to becoming the captain, but why did not I know.”

Virat Kohli took over the captaincy of RCB in 2013 and led the team by 2021. However, after reaching the 2016 finals, RCB could not even reach the playoffs for three consecutive seasons (2017, 2018, 2019), with the team at the bottom twice. For this reason, questions were raised on Kohli’s captaincy.

RCB returned to the playoffs in 2020 and then the team was commanded to Faf du Plessis after Kohli left the captaincy in 2021. In 2025, the team finally won the first title under the captaincy of Rajat Patidar, where Virat Kohli played an important role in 15 matches scoring 657 runs and also mentored Rajat on the field.

At the same time, Parthiv Patel did not play IPL after 2019 and retired from cricket. Parthiv, who scored 2,848 runs in 139 matches, won the title with Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians and played a new role as a mentor of Gujarat Titans in 2025.
