The two franchises share a long history of rivalry and have shared the trophy five times each, respectively.
MI and CSK met in the final for the first time in 2010, with the latter winning the game by 22 runs to lift the trophy for the first time. Batting first, CSK scored 168/5, with Suresh Raina scoring 57 runs off 35 balls, laced with 3 sixes and as many fours.
Dhoni managed 22 off 15, packed with 2 fours and a one-handed six. Mumbai had a lot of match-winners in the side, but were restricted to 146/9. Sachin amassed 48 runs, but other batters couldn’t contribute as much. Kieron Pollard tried his best in the death overs, but his 27 off 10 went in vain. He smashed 3 fours and 2 sixes.
Tanay Tiwari, who is one of the anchors on Start Sports, was praising Dhoni for hitting just one six in the game. His words irked Harbhajan Singh, who slammed him for giving importance to the former CSK captain.
“Dhoni didn’t do anything extraordinary. Even Kieron Pollard hit sixes in that game. Hitting a six with one hand is not a big thing. It happens in a game,” Harbhajan Singh said.
Tanay was put on the back foot and didn’t dare to say anything.
