Shubman Gill will return to the Dalip Trophy 2025 after a brilliant performance in the Test series. He will be the captain of North Zone. His team also includes Arshdeep Singh and Anshul Kamboj. The team will play quarter -finals against the East Zone from August 28.
Delhi: Indian Test captain Shubman Gill, who recently gave India a 2-2 equal in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy against England, is now going to return to domestic cricket. He will captain the North Zone in the Duleep Trophy, the first tournament of the 2025-26 domestic season starting in late August.
This time the Dalip Trophy will again be played in the old six -zone format. Along with Gill, Arshdeep Singh of Punjab, who was in the Test team and Anshul Kamboj of Haryana will also be part of the North Zone team. India ended the tour of England with an exciting win by 6 runs in the Oval Test.
The North Zone team will play the quarter -finals from the East Zone at BCCI’s Center of Excellence in Bengaluru from 28 August. East Zone will be captained by Ishaan Kishan, a close friend of Shubman.
25 -year -old Gill made a great start as a Test captain. He scored 754 runs in this series and scored four centuries. This is the highest century in the foreign series by any captain. With this record, he has joined the list of veterans like Don Bradman and Sunil Gavaskar.
This will be the first time Shubman Gill will captain the North Zone. Earlier, he has played five matches for India Blue and India A. Last year, he was the captain of Team A in the Dalip Trophy and scored 25 and 21 runs in a match in Bangalore. In that match, his team lost by 76 runs.
This time six players of Jammu and Kashmir have got a place in the North Zone team. At the same time, Haryana batsman Ankit Kumar has been made vice -captain.

In the absence of Shubman Gill, Shubham Rohilla will be included in place of Gurnur Brar and Harshit Rana in place of Arshdeep Singh, if a player is selected for India team.
