Delhi: India’s Test captain Shubman Gill has been chosen as ICC Mains Player of the Month for July 2025. He received this honor for a great performance in the recent Test series in England. Gill won the award by beating England captain Ben Stokes and South African Vian Mulder.
This is Gill’s fourth ‘Player of the Month’ Award, and he is at the forefront of the male players who achieved this feat. Prior to this, he has also won this honor in January 2023, September 2023 and February 2025.
Gill said about this award, “This time this award is very special for me as it has received for the performance done as captain in my first Test series. The double century played in Birmingham will be one of the most memorable innings of my career.”
Gill further said that this Test series played against England was a learning experience for him as a captain. He said, “This series was memorable for both teams. I am happy that many of our players performed brilliantly. I thank my team and the selectors and want to continue similar performance in the coming season.”

His performance in the Lord’s Test was calm, but he played an important role in drawing the match by scoring 103 runs in Old Trafford, Manchester. Due to his great form, he was also declared ‘Player of the Series’. In this series, India scored a historical result by playing 2–2 draws.
