The England batter Sophia Dunkley has clinched the ICC Women’s Player of the Month for July 2025 after his consistent run during the home tour against India.
The top performance has edged out competition from England teammate Sophie Ecclestone and Ireland captain Gaby Lewis for the monthly award.
Speaking on winning the award, Sophia Dunkley said, “I am delighted to win the ICC Player of the Month award off the back of a really hard-fought series against India.
“We would have loved to have won the series but I think we’ll take a lot from it moving towards the ICC Women’s World Cup. India deserved their win and it was a great series to be a part of.”
Despite a poor start in the T20I series, she went on to bounce back scoring 75 runs in the third match which helped the side to secure narrow-five triumph.
She made 19-ball 22 for England in the fourth T20I in Manchester, where the hosts could only manage 126 runs.
In the final match of the series, she once against played a pivotal role scoring 46 runs off 30 deliveries to a last ball victory.
The knock also sealed the win and confirmed Dunkley as England’s leading run-scorer across the T20I series against India. Across the four T20Is, Dunkley amassed 144 runs at an average of 36, striking at an impressive 134.57.
She continued her form into the ODI series with India by making an excellent 83 runs in the first match of the series and was only dismissed twice when amassing 126 runs across the three games.
Meanwhile, Shubman Gill has been named as the ICC Men’s Player of the Month for July 2025 after scoring 754 runs in 10 innings of the five match test series on Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy edging out England’s Ben Stokes and South Africa’s Wiaan Mulder.
