Aakash Chopra questioned whether the replacement rules have a loophole that allowed Chennai to buy Brevis for a higher amount.
“The Chennai Super Kings’ were struggling and they needed players, who could help them to prepare for the next season. Dewald Brevis came and performed,” Aakash Chopra said.
“He was benched for a match after joining the franchise, but he batted well after his inclusion in the playing XI. Ashwin said that Brevis asked for more money. Is there a loophole to break the purse limit?” Aakash Chopra added.
Ravichandran Ashwin recently disclosed that several franchises were interested in Dewald Brevis but the Chennai Super Kings agreed to pay extra money. However, he didn’t mention whether it was above INR 2.20 crore.
