Delhi: Former India captain Kapil Dev has appealed to the officials of Delhi and NCR to adopt kind and humanitarian paths for dogs living on the streets. He has given this statement after a recent order of the Supreme Court, in which the government has been instructed not to hold these dogs in the pounds (shelters) and do not leave it again on the streets.

Supreme Court order and concern

The Supreme Court has ordered the Delhi government and the municipal corporations to control stray dogs, keep them in the pounds and do not be left on the streets again. After this decision, concern has increased in organizations working for animal rights. They believe that this will increase the crowd in shelter homes and will not be able to take care of these dogs there properly.

A passionate message of Kapil Dev

Kapil Dev made an emotional appeal in a video message for an animal welfare group named ‘Petfamilia’. He said, “I know a lot is being said about dogs these days. But as a citizen, I feel that they are very beloved creatures. I request the authorities not to take care of them and do not take them out.”

Have raised their voice before

Kapil Dev has already raised his voice in favor of dogs living on the streets. In the year 2023, he challenged the provision of the ‘Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act’ in the Delhi High Court in which Strey Dogs were allowed to kill. He took this step after a painful murder of a pregnant bitch in Delhi in November 2022.

Not a policy but also a matter of moral responsibility

Kapil Dev believes that this is not just a government policy issue, but also a matter of moral responsibility. He says that the government should make such a safe shelter, where these animals can get the right care, medicines and long -term protection. Also, the safety of humans should not be ignored.
