South Africa‘s head coach, Shukri Conrad, has expressed his wish for his players to display more confidence on the field, similar to the in-form Dewald Brevis. The South African batter maintained his strong form in Australia, scoring 180 runs in three matches, including a record-breaking century. He also hit 13 boundaries and 14 sixes.

Despite Brevis’ remarkable contributions, the series ended in disappointment for South Africa as they were defeated in the final match by two wickets. In his post-match comments, Conrad mentioned that the Proteas have a tendency to be overly modest at times.

“I think sometimes we are too modest and fail to showcase to the world what we’re truly capable of doing. Just like Brevis does. He will naturally get older, but I hope he keeps playing with the energy of a 22-year-old. Often, with experience, players change their style, but he’s a real breath of fresh air,” Shukri Conrad said.

“This has got nothing to do with the way Australia play. They have a clear blueprint, and at times it’s absolutely brilliant, real box office material. There are moments when you can put them under pressure, like we did in the first few games, but they stick to their plan,” he added.

He mentioned that batters like Tristan Stubbs, Ryan Rickelton, and Aiden Markram have the potential to play with more freedom, but he feels they have restricted themselves too much.

“What does that mean for us? In terms of batting, players like (Tristan) Stubbs, (Rickelton), and Aiden have a lot of potential. However, I feel they may have limited themselves too much,” he concluded.
