Ishan Kishan has been ruled out of the Duleep Trophy 2025 for the East Zone as he is yet to fully recover from a minor foot injury he sustained during his Nottinghamshire stint in the UK.
He was replaced by Aashirwad Swain in the squad for the tournament. It is understood that Ishan Kishan required multiple stitches, and it’s due to this that he wasn’t considereda as replacement for the injured Rishabh Pant ahead of the fifth test at The Oval.
Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu’s Jagadeesan was flown in as the back-up to Dhruv Jurel. Kishan’s injury doesn’t appear to be a serious one and the decision to keep him out is a precautionary measure since he’s likely to be contender to play two four-day game fixtures at home for India A next month against Australia.
Ishan Kishan will now continue to recuperate and undergo a fitness assessment at BCCI‘s Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru.
Kumar Kushagra will be the first choice wicketkeeper in the absence of Kishan. Meanwhile, East Zone squad will miss the services of Akash Deep who has advised to rest.
