Rinku Singh, the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) batter, recently commented on his viral moment from the IPL 2024. He borrowed a bat from Virat Kohli. The footage showed Rinku asking Kohli for a replacement bat after breaking the one he had received from the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) star.

During an interview with News24 on Friday, August 22, Rinku spoke about the incident and his experiences.

“(Main thoda zyada badnaam ho gaya tha) I had gained a bit of unwanted attention because of the bat. Normally, I would just go up to Bhaiya (Virat Kohli) and ask for a bat, and the cameraman would stay out of sight. But this time, it became a bit of an issue, as the videos focusing too much on the bat started going viral. It wasn’t great for me or for Bhaiya either.”

He also mentioned that, in the 2025 IPL season, he borrowed bats from both MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma, sharing that it was a unique experience.

“This time, I wasn’t with Virat Bhai (in IPL 2025). Instead, I used Mahi Bhai’s (MS Dhoni) bat and also borrowed Rohit Bhai’s (Rohit Sharma) bat. It means a lot to me because getting bats from such big players is a huge honour.”

Rinku’s performance in the IPL 2025 season was not impressive, as he scored 206 runs across 11 innings. His average was 29.42, and he posted a strike rate of 153.73, with his highest score being an unbeaten 38.
