Alex Green notches third five-for of One-Day Cup campaign.

The teenager dismantled Derbyshire's middle order at Grace Road, pinning Martin Andersson lbw for his first wicket, before striking again in his next over to remove Brooke Guest, caught at third man. His following over saw him snaffle the wicket of Ross Whitele, who nicked behind, to give him three scalps in three overs. Green then came back into the attack and bowled a superb final over, the penultimate of the innings, conceding just one run and completing his five-for by dismissing both Ben Aitchison and Jack Morley, and leaving Tom Scriven 14 to defend off the final over.

One-Day Cup game ends in thrilling tie

Having put 312-5 on the board in the first innings, Leicestershire set Derbyshire a steep target. Rishi Patel was the star with the bat for the home side, scoring 94 off 119 balls, accompanied by Lewis Hill, who scored 93 before he was dismissed by Aitchison.

In reply, Derbyshire started strongly, with openers Caleb Jewell and Harry Came putting on 81 for the first wicket. However, six batters were dismissed for between 15 and 50, and two ducks from Nos.

10 and 11 saw the game go down to the wire.

After Green's penultimate over, Zak Chappell reignited Derbyshire's hopes with a six and four in the first three balls of the final over. He struck the first down the ground, and was gifted a wide from Scriven to bring the scores level with three balls to play. Two dots followed before Chappell attempted to scramble through for a leg by off the final ball of the game. However, he dropped his bat and stumbled running between the wickets, falling over his bat as it slid along the ground. He was well out of his ground when the bails were taken off, still with the scores level.
