Sri Lanka announce 17-member squad for T20I series against Zimbabwe, Charith Asalanka to lead

Sri Lanka have unveiled their squad for the three-match T20I series against Zimbabwe, starting on September 3. The short tournament will be a key part of their preparations for the Asia Cup 2025, offering a chance to test combinations and give opportunities to emerging players.

The batting lineup features a blend of power and technique. Charith Asalankathe captain, will be central to the team’s plans with his ability to anchor the innings and accelerate when needed. He is supported by experienced top-order batters like Somewhere in the mentend and Pathum nissankawho are known for their explosive starts. The squad also includes the likes of Kusal Perera and Kamindo mistakes providing depth and versatility to the batting unit.

In the absence of key all-rounder Canaan is not due to injury, the responsibility will fall on others to step up. Dunith Wellalage and Chamika karunaratne will be crucial with their dual skills, offering both valuable runs and handy overs. Their ability to contribute in both departments will be a major factor in balancing the team, especially in Hasaranga’s absence.
