Before IPL 2026, Rajasthan Royals have suffered a major setback. Head coach Rahul Dravid has left Rajasthan Oils before the upcoming season. Rajasthan Royals themselves have given this information through their official social media account.

Dravid, who played 46 matches in the IPL for Rajasthan Royals, joined the franchise as head coach after the end of his term as head coach with the Indian team last year but in the 2025 edition of the IPL, Dravid’s Under Rajasthan team failed to perform well.

The franchise gave information about this news through a post on social media and said, “Rajasthan Royals announced today that head coach Rahul Dravid will finish his term with the franchise before IPL 2026. Rahul has been in the center of the Royals’ journey for many years. His leadership has influenced a generation of players, has communicated strong values in the team and the franchise has been storned in the team.

The statement further stated, “Under the franchise’s structural review, Rahul was offered a comprehensive position in the franchise, but he did not accept it. Rajasthan Royals, his players and millions of fans from all over the world, express their heartfelt gratitude to Rahul for his remarkable service to the franchise.”

Dravid is the second head coach to break up with an IPL franchise before the IPL 2026 mega auction. Last month, Kolkata Knight Riders also broke away with Chandrakant Pandit. Pandit, who joined KKR as head coach in KKR before IPL 2023, won the IPL title as head coach in 2024. After Ashish Nehra, he is only the second Indian to win the IPL title as head coach.
