Colin Munro, Pooran’s Knocks Secure 7-Wicket Victory For Knight Riders

Colin Munro and Nicholas Pooran’s knocks have helped the Trinbago Knight Riders to secure a win against Barbados Royals and extend their winning streak in the CPL 2025.

By this win, they cemented their top spot in the CPL 2025 points table. Batting first, de Kock and Brandon King opened the innings for Knight Riders while Akeal Hosein opened the bowling attack.

With de Kock’s dismissal for 17 runs, King went on to post 29 runs before being dismissed by Russell.

However, Kadeem Alleyne and Sherfane Rutherford made a decent contribution scoring 41 and 45 respectively.

With Alleyne’s dismissal for 41 runs by Amir, Rutherford got dismissed by Russell. With Rovman Powell’s dismissal for 31 runs, Barbados Royals went on to post 178 runs in their 20 over innings.

Andre Russell picked three wicket haul while Amir had 2 dismissals and Ali Khan had one wicket.

In the pursuit of chasing 179 run target, Colin Munro and Alex Hales opened the innings where the latter got dismissed for 19 runs by Ramon Simmonds.

Knight Riders went on to score 56 runs in the powerplay. With the dismissal of Keacy Carty for 1 run by Warrican, Munro and Pooran forged a solid 93-run partnership for the third wicket.

Munro posted 67 runs off 44 deliveries which included four fours and 4 sixes before being dismissed on a run out.

However, Pooran and Kieron Pollard’s unbeaten 65 and 19 runs has helped the side to post seven wicket victory.

Colin Munro was named as the Player of the Match. Speaking on the post match conference, Munro said, “The hand is okay (got hit by a throw while batting). It always looks worse when it first happens, but not too bad at the moment.”

“This is a special team, they gave me my first opportunity in franchise cricket and will always be grateful. I know I can always make up if I start slowly,” he added.

“We don’t have the aura like we did 4-5 years ago as the rest of the teams have caught up and are really good,” concluded Colin Munro.

Trinbago Knight Riders will play their next game against Guyana Amazon Warriors on August 31 at Brian Lara StadiumTaruba, Trinidad.
