Delhi: Former Indian captain Rahul Dravid will no longer be the head coach of Rajasthan Royals (RR). The franchise informed that Dravid has turned down the offer of “broader roll” and now he will not join the team further. He was associated with the team before IPL 2025 and has now moved from his post before IPL 2026.

RR confirmed officially

While being the coach of Rahul Dravid, Rajasthan Royals could not perform well in IPL 2025. The team stood ninth in the points table and could win only 4 matches out of 14. However, Dravid played an important role in carving 14 -year -old young player Vaibhav Suryavanshi, which proved to be the biggest discovery of the season.

Rajasthan Royals said in their official statement that a structural review was done in the franchise and Rahul was offered a big role. However, he did not accept it. The team and fans thanked Dravid’s contribution.

Meanwhile, there are reports that Sanju Samson himself wants to leave Royals. However, till now neither the franchise nor Sanju has reacted to it.

RR and Rahul Dravid’s old relationship

Rahul Dravid was earlier associated with Rajasthan Royals from 2011 to 2015. He captained the team in 2012 and 2013, while in 2014 and 2015, he played the role of mentor. After this he became the coach of India Under-19 and India A teams. Then in 2021, he was appointed the head coach of the Indian senior team.
