United Arab Emirates (UAE) cricket team captain Muhammad Waseem etched his name in the history books and broke the world record of Indian cricket legend Rohit Sharma despite his team's 39-run defeat to Afghanistan in the ongoing T20I tri-series.
Chasing a total of 189, Waseem led a long fight for the hosts with a flamboyant knock of 67 in just 37 balls, which included four boundaries and six maximums. The innings came at a strike-rate of 181.08. While Rahul Chopra also scored a half-century, UAE collapsed after Waseem's departure and went from 90-3 to 122-8, but managed to end with 150 runs on the board

With his six-hitting display against Rashid Khan and Co., Waseem went past Rohit to become the player with the most sixes in T20Is. The UAE skipper now has 110 maximums to his name in the shortest format of the game, while Rohit hit 105 before retiring post the 2024 T20 World Cup.
