Virat Kohli’s Test jersey has been placed in a museum in Sri Lanka, marking another chapter of mutual respect between the two cricketing nations. The jersey, carrying Kohli’s signature, was gifted to former Sri Lankan cricketer and long-serving ICC umpire Kumar Dharmasena after a request.

Dharmasena shared earlier this year that he asked only once, and Kohli responded without hesitation. The Indian great not only signed the jersey but also wrote a personal note, transforming it from a piece of clothing into a cherished symbol of their bond: “To Kumar, with best wishes.”

The jersey has now been showcased at the Pintanna Museum in Ayagama, where it represents the friendship and mutual admiration that cricket has fostered across borders.

When Kohli stepped away from Test cricket a few months ago, Dharmasena publicly applauded him for his unmatched dedication to the longest format. He also expressed pride in having officiated in the Tests in which Kohli displayed his trademark passion and determination.

Their careers ran in parallel, with one as a world-class batter and the other as an elite umpire. They often crossed paths, reflecting the respect and friendship that define the spirit of the game.
