Delhi: Prenelan Subrayan’s bowling action was doubted during the series played against Australia last month. Although he was not stopped from bowling at that time, the South African team management decided to relax him and kept him out of the series. After this, he was not selected for the ongoing series against England.

Testing in Brisbane

Subrayan was tested in Brisbane on 26 August. The statement issued by the ICC confirmed that the elbow expansion in all their balls was permissible within the 15 degree limit.

Questions have arisen on action before

This is not the first time Subrayan has faced difficulties about bowling action. Cricket South Africa kept him under the rehab after his action was found illegal in two independent trials in December 2012.

He was allowed to bowl again in January 2013 after a re -test.

During the Champions League T20 in India in September 2014 and in a domestic T20 match in November 2015, his action was raised. All his balls in the assessment were found to be higher than the 15 degree limit, due to which he was suspended. After a re -evaluation in January 2016, he was allowed to bowl again when the investigation was completed at the High Performance Center in South Africa in March 2016.

Career glimpse

Subrayan has been playing continuously in South Africa’s domestic cricket since 2011.

He started his Test career against Zimbabwe in July. Now after this relief from the ICC, his international career is expected to get a new momentum.
