Lucknow: Former Indian team captain Sourav Ganguly believes that Delhi Capitals (DC) captain Rishabh Pant and star all-rounder Akshar Patel will definitely get a place in the T20 World Cup 2024 team. In such a situation, before the World Cup, all the stalwarts of the cricket world are giving their opinion as to which players can get a place in the team.

Delhi Cricket Director Ganguly believes that Team India captain Rohit Sharma would like to have a player in the lower order who can bat. Patel can play a good role in this role and he can get a place in the World Cup team. Apart from this, he has declared Pant's place as confirmed. Ganguly has given a big statement during a conversation with news agency PTI.

He said, “Akshar Patel's name is absolutely certain in the World Cup team. Rishabh Pant will also join that team. The way things are going in T-20, Rohit would like to have a player at number 8 who can score 15-20 runs quickly. Akshar can do this work easily and if the team needs someone who can hit against the spinners, then Patel can do that work also.”

If we talk about Akshar, he has done a good job with the ball this season. So recently, while playing at number three against Gujarat Titans (GT), he played a good innings and scored a half-century. His innings came in difficult times because the team had lost three consecutive wickets. The 30-year-old has played 9 matches so far this season, in which he has taken 7 wickets at an excellent economy of 7 runs.

Talking about the role of wicketkeeper in the team in the T20 World Cup, the former Indian captain said, “I like both Sanju Samson and Rishabh Pant. Rishabh will definitely go to the T-20 World Cup and Sanju can also go. He is as good a player as any other player and bats well. Apart from this, he also captains Rajasthan. I think if the selectors feel that both should go, then both can go to the World Cup.”
