A classical knock from Anshuman Rath and Nizakat Khan has helped Hong Kong to post a 149-run win in the Asia Cup 2025 game against Sri Lanka on September 15.
They went on to smash 48 and 52* runs, which has helped the side to set up a decent target for Sri Lanka.
Batting first, Zeeshan Ali and Anshuman Rath opened the innings for the Hong Kong while Nuwan Thushara opened the attack.
The openers went on to make 41 runs for the first wicket before Chameera dismissed Zeeshan Ali for 23 runs.
With Anshuman Rath and Hayat at the crease, Hong Kong went on to score 42 runs in the powerplay.
With the dismissal of Hayat for 4 runs by Hasaranga, Chameera bagged the wicket of Anshuman Rath for 48 runs.
However, Nizakat Khan made solid knock scoring 52* runs off 38 deliveries which helped the side to post 149 runs in their 20 over innings.
Chameera bagged two wickets while Wanindu Hasaranga and Shanaka bagged one wicket each.
Speaking at the toss, Charith Asalanka said, “Just looks decent. We want to chase. One change. Theekshana comes in for Pathirana. Really happy with the performance. Almost perfect game for us.”
“Just want to keep going. We cant underestimate any team specially in the shorter formats. We need to do the basics right,” concluded Asalanka.
Meanwhile Yasim Murtaza said, “To be honest, we did well against Bangladesh. There is one change. We talk about winning but it is important to have a good work ethic. Our coach says we need to take care of the work ethic, results will take care of themselves. We have a few things to work on.”
