Balrampur, 22 September (Read). On the completion of five years of Mission Shakti, the ambitious scheme of Uttar Pradesh government is now visible in every village. In this sequence, Shikshamitra Lakshmi Devi Tharu is showing the path of self -reliance to women in Mohkampur village of Nepal border area of Balrampur district.

Lakshmi Devi is motivating women from Nepal especially about the art of making crafts from munj (wild grass). Under her supervision, about 10 Tharu women are learning to make dollia, mobile stand, roti case, plate of puja and other decorative items. With this, not only women are moving towards self -employment, but the “local for vocal” campaign of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also gaining momentum.

Laxmi Devi said in this regard that apart from Mohkampur, women of Bethania and Sagrapur villages are also being given free training of craft designing, sewing-embroidery and handicrafts. This training is running free daily in Mohkampur Panchayat Bhawan.

He says that the women of Tharu region, inspired by mission power, are now moving towards becoming self -sufficient. After completing the training, the finished products will be sold in the market, which will give women economic strength and social identity.

Local women believe that women who are limited to the boundary wall of the house with such initiative are now making their own identity in the society. This attempt of mission power is proving to be a milestone in the direction of women empowerment and self -reliance.
