Amid discussions about the selection of the new chairman of the Board of Control for Cricket in India, former captain of the Indian cricket team, Sourav Ganguly returned once again.

Ganguly, chairman of the Indian Board, once again became the boss of cricket. But this time he became the head of cricket of his home, not Indian cricket, but his state of Bengal. Ganguly once again took charge of the Bengal Cricket Association (CAB). On Monday 22 September, he was elected president in the annual general meeting of CAB (AGM). Along with this, this association will be commanded in the hands of the Ganguly family in the second consecutive term.

The 94th AGM of CAB was held in Kolkata, in which Ganguly was again elected unopposed president.

Along with this, a formal seal was also taken on speculation going on for several days. In this way, Ganguly again became the boss of Bengal cricket after 6 years. Earlier, he was the president of this union from 2015 to 2019. Then in 2019, he took command of the Indian Cricket Board and was the President of BCCI for 3 years. Due to the Constitution of BCCI, Ganguly was passing through the 'Cooling Off' for the last 3 years and became the head of the cab again as soon as it was over.

Eden will again make stadium with 1 lakh

Sourav Ganguly has replaced his own elder brother Snehashish Ganguly in this post, who was the President of Bengal Cricket Association for the last 3 years.

He had to leave this post due to Snehashish's completion of 6 years. Sourav Ganguly also made some big announcements along with returning to his old throne. He announced the back -day image to the famous Eden Gardens Stadium again, under which its capacity will again be transported to one lakh spectators. Till about one and a half decades ago, Eden had more than one lakh capacity and it was the largest stadium in India. Ganguly, however, also made it clear that this plan will start only after next year's T20 World Cup.

Emphasis on return of big matches in Kolkata

The former Indian captain also pledged to organize important matches in this stadium, in which T20 World Cup 2026 will be the first event. In Kolkata, how many and what importance the tournament is compared to, it will be worth seeing. Incidentally, Ganguly's return to Cab is taking place at the same time when Test cricket is returning to Kolkata. In Kolkata, there will be the second match of the Test series between India and South Africa in November.

With this, a Test match will be played in Eden after 6 years. The last Test was between India and Bangladesh in November 2019, which was the first day-night Test match played in Team India and in India. Eden got this match while being the CAB president of Ganguly and it was successfully organized a few days after his BCCI president.
