According to Article 2.1.4 of the ICC Code of Conduct, if a player uses derogatory language or makes pornographic gestures, it is considered a Level-1 crime. This includes abusing loud voice, making indecent gestures. However, if someone is insulted by someone’s caste, religion, color or nationality, the matter becomes more serious and can be punished strictly.

In case of Level-1 crime, the player can be warned or a fine of up to 50% of his match fee can be imposed. Along with this, demerit points are also added.

• If the fine ranges from 0 to 25%, 1 demerit point is deducted.
• If the fine is from 26 to 50%, then 2 demerit points are deducted.
