New Delhi: Former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan recalled when he was kicked out of the international team due to injury and never played for the country. Panthan made his debut in 2003. He played 29 Tests, 120 ODIs and 24 T20Is. He played his last game for India in 2012 and continued to play domestic cricket till 2019. He announced his retirement from all formats of the game in January 2020.

Irfan slammed Krishnamachari Srikkanth for kicking him out of the team after an injury because he was the chairman of selectors at that point of time.

“I was part of the Indian team when Srikanth sir was the selector. I got injured and got kicked out and never played for India. No that’s the truth. And i have no qualms about it. I have huge respect for you. That time, the mindset was different,” Irfan Pathan, Commentator & Cricket Expert with IPL official TV Broadcaster, said on Star Sports Press Room Show, Ticket to World Cup.

Irfan also suggested selectors to not to judge a player after just one good season in the IPL.

Just because some guys are playing well in IPL, you think we should pick them. But don’t forget the guys (who have done well in the past),” added Pathan.

T20 World Cup 2024 will be played in USA and West Indies and BCCI have not yet announced the squad for the marquee event. The deadline to announce the squad is May 1. There are reports that Rohit Sharma, Ajit Agarkar along with selection commette will announce the squad in the last week of April.
