After KL Rahul’s hundred and captain Shubman Gill’s fifty in the first session on Day 2 at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Dhruv Jurel and new vice-captain Ravindra Jadeja struck fifties to put the hosts in the driving seat at tea.
Rahul completed his 11th Test hundred, laced with 12 fours. Gill managed 50, including 5 boundaries. The two added 98 runs for the third wicket.
Jurel, who replaced injured Rishabh Pant in the playing XI, was batting on 75, with the help of 8 fours and 2 sixes. On the other hand, Jadeja took his score to 57, packed with 4 sixes and 3 fours.
Earlier, the visitors were bowled out for 162, with Mohammed Siraj ( 4 wickets) and Jasprit Bumrah (3 wickets) proving to be unstoppable. Kuldeep Yadav, who is playing a five-day game after a long time, dismissed two batters.
