Virat Kohli-Rohit Sharma Selection: The fans of Team India are going to get a chance to see Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma's batting once again.
After a full 7 months long gap, two superstars of Team India are making a comeback in international cricket. Virat and Rohit have got a place in the Indian squad for the ODI series on Australia tour. In such a situation, the question has also started to arise whether both batsmen can be seen playing in the World Cup 2027? Are Virat and Rohit retiring after this series? The biggest question- Do both want to play World Cup? Chief selector Ajit Agarkar made a shocking disclosure about this.As soon as Team India defeated West Indies in the first Test match in Ahmedabad on Saturday, October 4, the squad was announced for the tour of Australia shortly after that.
Agarkar, the head of the selection committee, was present in Ahmedabad for this. Two issues were the most important in this announcement- the return of Virat-Rohit and the appointment of Shubman Gill as the new ODI captain. Agarkar spoke openly on both the issues, which had more questions about the selection and future of Rohit and Virat. In this, Agarkar gave the most shocking statement about both of them playing in World Cup 2027.
In the press conference, when there was a question about Rohit and Virat's selection and their playing in the World Cup 2027, Agarkar said that both of them have not taken a firm decision on it. Agarkar said, "Both Virat and Rohit have not yet made up their mind about the World Cup." This statement of the Chief Selector surprised everyone as Virat and Rohit had expressed a desire to play in the ODI World Cup to be held in 2027 on different occasions till a few months ago. In such a situation, there is speculation that after this series, both will also retire from ODI cricket. However, Agarkar himself did not give any kind of announcement or indication from his or selection committee. He definitely said that it is not right to talk about both of them playing World Cup. However, the former Indian fast bowler also dismissed the rumors, which was being claimed that the tour could be the last of Virat and Rohit in international cricket. Agarkar made it clear that he has not heard anything about being a 'farewell series' for Virat and Rohit.
But Agarkar also made it clear for the entire team including both the batsmen that if a player is not playing international cricket, then he will have to play domestic cricket.
In such a situation, now the eyes will be on whether these two players will get to play in the Vijay Hazare Trophy after the tour of Australia or both will be exempted from him?[embed]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lrj3fsrzgho[/embed]
