Overview:

Harjas is the first cricketer in history to amass a triple century in the limited-overs format of grade-level cricket.

Harjas Singh, the Australian cricketer of Indian origin, entered the record books when he scored a triple hundred in limited-overs cricket. He was representing Western Suburbs against the Sydney Cricket Club at Pattern Park. Harjas is the first cricketer in history to amass a triple century in the limited-overs format of grade-level cricket.

He accumulated 314 runs off just 141 balls, packed with 35 sixes. He has joined the elite list of cricketers. Phil Jaques (321) and Victor Trumper (335) are the other two cricketers who also recorded triple hundreds in New South Wales Premier first-grade cricket.

The young batter was born in Sydney, but his parents are from Chandigarh. They shifted to Australia in 2000. In the 2024 U-19 World Cup final against India, he scored 55 runs off 64 balls. He was the highest run-scorer for Australia in that match, and his knock took the score to 253.

“I managed to hit the ball cleanly, and I am proud of my effort. I worked on my power hitting during the off-season, and it paid off today,” he told Fox Cricket.

“I was worrying about the things outside my game in the last season of two seasons. But I am now focusing on my game,” he added.

The triple hundred could help Harjas move forward in his career. Some of his teammates, Sam Konstas, Hugh Weibgen, Mahli Beardmann, and Oliver Peake, are playing for state-level teams, with Konstas making his Test debut against India.

Harjas’s explosive batting has given another option to the Australian selectors.
