Bangladesh defeated Afghanistan by 2 wickets in a thrilling manner in the second T20 international match late Friday and took an unbeatable lead of 2–0 in the three-match series. Afghanistan scored 147 runs for 5 wickets in 20 overs, in response to which Bangladesh achieved the target by losing 8 wickets in 19.1 overs. It was defeating Afghanistan’s fourth consecutive T20, out of which three have come against Bangladesh.
In bowling, Shoriful Islam (1/13), Mohammad Saifuddin (0/22) and Nasum Ahmed (2/25) limited Afghanistan to 147/5 by putting an affordable spell. In response, Bangladesh started poorly and today both openers were dismissed for just 2 runs. The score was 16/2 till the fourth over and Saif Hasan also went on in the fifth. After falling three wickets at just 24, the responsibility came on Shamim Hussain and Jaaker Ali. Both of them shared a 56 -run partnership and brought the team back in the match.
Jaaker Ali (32) hit Rashid Khan six and four but was dismissed on the next ball. Shamim (33) also could not last long. Nurul Hasan hit two consecutive sixes off Mohammad Nabi on the crucial occasion and changed the attitude of the match. However, Omarjai increased Bangladesh’s difficulties by taking two wickets in a single over. The final 12 balls were required 19 runs, but Noor Ahmed scored 17 runs in the 19th over and Shoriful won the last over and won.
Earlier, Ibrahim Jadaran scored 38 off 37 balls for Afghanistan while Rahmanullah Gurbaz (30) played some good shots. The prophet finally took the team to 147 by batting quickly, but this score was insufficient to win.
